‚ÄčConference 2014 > Agenda > Using Microsoft Azure to Host a Web Site That Uses SAMLP Authentication

Session Location: Union

Session Time: Wednesday, October 15th 11:00AM-12:00PM

Session Presenter(s):

Eric Kool-Brown - University of Washington

Many universities use the community-developed Shibboleth or CAS authentication systems to provide web single-sign-on. Both of these systems employ the SAML protocol (SAMLP) as the actual authentication mechanism. These same institutions have or may be developing and running web applications that use SAML authentication. Traditionally IT teams have had to provide their own hardware on which to run their web applications. The cloud has arrived! Now you can lease virtual hardware and the associated infrastructure. What sort of capabilities does this enable? Can you move your SAML web sites to Azure? The answer is yes, but the devil is in the details.
